Parents demand organ inquiry with real power

A GROUP of parents whose dead children’s organs were removed without their consent may take court action if Health Minister Michaél Martin fails to give full powers to an inquiry into the scandal.

Parents for Justice yesterday said they would pull out of a non-statutory inquiry next Wednesday if Minister Martin failed to act.

They are demanding Mr Martin uphold a verbal assurance he made to them last April that there would be a second stage to the inquiry involving a statutory investigation.
