PROPERTY developer Owen O’Callaghan frustrated Tom Gilmartin’s attempts to create a retail park in west Dublin by threatening to build his own rival centre nearby.

Mr O’Callaghan owned land at Neilstown which was already zoned for development and he told Mr Gilmartin he had had meetings with planning officials and he had builders ready to roll onto the site.

He acknowledged Mr Gilmartin’s lands at Quarryvale further north were far superior to the Neilstown site, which had problems with road access
