ALMOST 10,000 people who contacted the national housing organisation Threshold last year earn less than €15,000 annually and live in low quality accommodation.

These people are at risk of falling into the poverty trap, said the organisation, which campaigns for the rights of those at the bottom end of the housing sector.

The revelation came after Taoiseach Bertie Ahern officially opened the non-profit organisation’s new headquarters in Stoneybatter, Dublin, yesterday.
