Give us more gardaí, urges mayor

Mayor of Waterford, Alderman Tom Cunningham, has urged the Government to ensure more gardaí are deployed on the beat in the city. Mr Cunningham is also keen to see delivery of the CCTV system promised for the city in November 2000.

Mr Cunningham said a stronger garda presence would make people feel safer where they live, encourage them to report crime and deter thugs engaged in anti-social behaviour such as car theft, graffiti, vandalism and petty crime.
