OECD gives economy positive signs

THERE were positive signs for the future of the Irish economy yesterday as the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development predicted strong growth here in 2004.

The OECD said they expected growth in the Irish economy to be cut almost in half this year, down from 6% in 2002 to 3.25% this year, but the economy would bounce back with 4.25% growth in 2004.

Its views on the economy bear out the earlier findings of the Economic and Social Research Institute that the economy will have a soft landing.
