O’Brien, Lowry pub chat in breach of rules

FIVE days after Denis O’Brien’s consortium made its pitch for the second mobile phone licence, Denis O’Brien met the Communications Minister, Michael Lowry.

This meeting in a pub in Dublin after an all-Ireland final was in breach of official strict government guidelines that the communications minister should not meet any of the consortia bidding for the multi-million pound licence.

At this meeting, it is alleged that Denis O'Brien got inside information on what the perceived weaknesses of his consortium's bid were.
