AN anxious mother spoke yesterday of her fear since giving evidence in the Ian Bailey libel trial last year, which has been heightened after a recent encounter with Bailey.

Marie Farrell, a former businesswoman in the West Cork village of Schull, said her life had been turned upside down. “I feel very afraid when I’m in the house on my own. When my husband leaves for work and the children go to school, I lock the doors.”

The mother-of-five said yesterday she made a statement to gardaí after recently coming face-to-face with Mr Bailey for the first time since the December trial.
