Worry over job losses

AN organisation representing the unemployed has criticised the Government for failing to stem a worrying rise in job losses in the Cork region.

Worry over job losses

The Irish National Organisation of the Unemployed (INOU) made the criticism in the wake of Wednesday’s announcement that an electrical contractor in Cork was to close with the loss of 120 jobs.

The company CG Services is the latest in a long line of Cork-based businesses to close or reduce their workforces. Its demise follows the collapse of airline Jetmagic, with the loss of 100 jobs and a reduction of 170 in employee numbers at the Schering Plough pharmaceutical plant.
