ONE of the country’s largest bakeries is to close with the loss of 50 jobs.

It is the second major blow to the economy of Macroom, Co Cork, which lost 670 jobs two years ago when the General Semiconductor plant shut down.

Neville Brothers Limited is to close on August 8, after almost 50 years in business. It’s one of the country’s largest bakeries and is the chief supplier of Dunnes Stores own-brand bread.
