Women mourn as wee Daniel is to be a bachelor no more

THE mother of all tea parties will be held in Donegal shortly when Daniel O’Donnell ties the knot with the new love in his life.

The 40-year-old singer with the clean-cut image is to marry businesswoman Majella McLennan.

The couple have fixed November 4 as the date for the big day in Daniel's home village of Kincasslagh.

The star's new chat show started on BBC1 Northern Ireland on Friday night but Daniel made the surprise announcement on Saturday morning to local radio.

He revealed the official announcement to his pal, Highland Radio presenter Pio McCann.

The local radio show host said: "He was on the show during the week and hundreds of people rang in to find out when the big day was going to be.

"I asked Daniel and he just laughed but he said I would be the first to know.

"He kept his promise," said McCann, "and I was really surprised when he rang into the show and made the official announcement."

Enniskillen-based priest Fr Brian D'Arcy, friends to many in the showbiz industry, is expected to officiate at the church wedding along with local priest Fr Pat Ward.

The announcement came in the wake of the Church's decision, confirmed last week, to annul mother-of-two Majella's first marriage.

"We're delighted Majella and her former husband were successful in their attempts to get an annulment which allows us to marry in the church. It's what we had hoped for and prayed for," the popular crooner said. "It's going to be a big wedding but not a celebrity event. It will be just family and friends," Daniel revealed.

The Donegal charmer, who has sold more than five million albums worldwide, said: "People who think there is going to be hundreds of celebrities will be disappointed. There will just be one star on the day and that' going to be Majella."
