Lotto winner Dolores seeks to outrun media storm
Limerick mother of six, Dolores McNamara, 46, who has not been seen at her bungalow on St Patrick's Road since winning €115 million on Friday, was tracked down to suite 314 in Cork's Silver Springs Moran Hotel.
Just after 11am yesterday, she summoned two beauticians to her room for a full Clarins facial for herself and three female companions.
Diane Dalgarno, salon manager with Source Health and Beauty, said Mrs McNamara's hotel room was packed.
"But everyone was very easy-going and very relaxed," she said.
The lotto winner wasn't Ms Dalgarno's first multi-millionaire client.
"I used to work on a six-star cruise ship and Bill Gates hired the whole ship during the Sydney Olympics. I gave him a massage. And I've massaged Robin Williams too."
Then just after 3.30pm, a group of people shepherding a woman with a coat over her head appeared at the hotel door and made a dash for a waiting car. But as photographers closed in, a gleaming black Mercedes, with Ms McNamara in the passenger seat, sped from the hotel's rear entrance towards the main road.
Minutes later Dolores was tracked down to the nearby Vienna Woods Hotel.
Hotel owner John Gately said she was just about to book in when a TV crew spooked her.
Rumours were circulating Ms McNamara was planning to head for Dublin this morning to catch a flight to Turkey.
Limerick priest Fr Joe Young has called on Ms McNamara to donate all her winnings to charity.
"She has this chance to do something really special here and make a real difference. Limerick is a special place with special people and special needs. I would say to her to take this opportunity to make a difference in her own city."
