IT is unlikely that PRSI contributors who paid thousands of euro in private fees during the dentists’ dispute will be reimbursed by the State.

Around 750 dentists withdrew from the dental treatment scheme during the seven-month row while about 150 continued to take part.

A spokesperson for the Department of Social and Family Affairs said newspaper advertisements were placed at the start of the dispute advising PRSI contributors to use a restricted panel of dentists who continued to honour their contract.
