VINTNERS and gardaí are to join councillors in Clonakilty on a special committee to help combat public order offences in the West Cork town.

More than 80 people were arrested, in the first nine months of this year, for public order offences in the tourist town.

Cllr Seamus O’Brien, who proposed the initiative at a meeting of Clonakilty Town Council, emphasised the town did not have a serious problem.
