Job fears as crystal firm lays off 19 workers

A FURTHER 19 contract workers at Waterford Crystal’s Dungarvan plant will be made redundant over the next two weeks.

The announcement of the lay-offs has come as a surprise and has added to the considerable fears and speculation about the future of the company’s operation in Dungarvan.

Two months ago, 10 contract staff were let go as the company announced a number of measures, including reduced working time, in an effort to cope with falling sales in the lucrative American market.
