Man talked down from crane

The man, who was described as being well known to the gardaí, is understood to have used a ladder to get over a fence into a building compound at County Hall, Cork.

Horrified passers-by spotted the man climbing up the crane shortly after 6am and alerted the emergency services.

Gardaí, two units of the fire brigade and an ambulance rushed to the scene.

Once down gardaí said their first concern was to get the man to Cork University Hospital where he was treated.
