The pleasant-faced young Traveller woman recalls with little emotion how easy it was to begin a life on the streets of Dublin as a 10-year old.

She explained how she first started begging back in 1997: “I wasn’t in school. When you’re living on the side of the road, it’s easy to avoid being detected by teachers.”
