THE Government has promised a re-doubling of efforts, including information desks at point of entry to the country, in an effort to step up efforts to tackle SARS.

Speaking at the Irish Medical Organisation’s (IMO) AGM in Killarney, Co Kerry, yesterday, the minister denied claims that his handling of the SARS issue had been a shambles to date.

Instead he said their capacity to operate an effective system had been impaired by the ongoing public health doctors strike.
