The ISPCC has repeated its call for the introduction of a fully comprehensive vetting system for people working with children.

People seeking to work with children on a professional or voluntary basis, such as teachers, are still not vetted. Only health board employees working with children are currently screened, yesterday’s annual general meeting was told.

ISPCC chairman Mary Bennett said: “During the last 12 months the society’s key services have grown substantially and the finances supporting this growth have also remained strong.
