GOAL chief calls on Annan to give UN 'teeth'

THE United Nations should be disbanded unless it can take "meaningful action" to prevent genocide in Darfur, GOAL's chief executive said yesterday.

On the first day of UN Secretary General Kofi Annan's five-day visit to this country, John O'Shea spoke of the "urgent need for total reform of the United Nations" so that it develops "teeth" in the international community.

He urged Mr Annan to send a protection force into Darfur before more people die.
