BUS ÉIREANN and the Department of Education have assured parents that most students will be accommodated on school transport services when they return to classes next week.

While the numbers of students who may miss out because of revised seating arrangements agreed by the Government a month ago is not yet clear, a Bus Éireann spokesperson said it will not be as bad as has been predicted.

It has been suggested in recent weeks that up to 6,000 young people could be left stranded.
