School U-turn allows pupils in

The Department of Education has written to parents of children barred from attending Gorey Community School in Co Wexford telling them their children will be accepted.

The department had told Gorey Community School last February that it could no longer take pupils from five primary schools in Ballygarrett, Ballyfad, Monaseed, Coolgraney and Monamolin, because of overcrowding problems. It is the country’s largest secondary school, catering for 1,300 pupils.
