Jehovah’s Witness mother upset by publicity

A CLOSE family friend of the Jehovah’s Witness woman who objected to allowing her infant receive potentially live-saving blood transfusions on religious grounds said she was “very upset” that the issue had resulted in a high-profile court case.

The woman’s five-month-old daughter, Janice (not her real name) is due to undergo vital heart surgery at Our Lady’s Hospital for Sick Children in Crumlin later today.

Last week, lawyers for the hospital secured a High Court order to allow surgeons carry out the operation.
