ONE of the central victims of garda misconduct in Donegal yesterday dismissed controversy over why none of five gardaí ordered to be transferred from the county was moved.

Frank McBrearty junior, along with his relative Mark McConnell, was framed by a number of gardaí in the division for allegedly murdering Richie Barron in October 1996. The role of the gardaí was revealed in the second report of the Morris Tribunal.

Following publication of the report, Garda Commissioner Noel Conroy ordered the transfer of five gardaí from Donegal to Dublin to engage in “non-operational duties”.
