State spared legal battle over €40m helicopter deal

THE Government has been spared an expensive legal battle over a 40m euro helicopter deal, to its recent round of cutbacks.

The Sikorsky helicopter deal was cancelled last month, which would have provided five search-and-rescue helicopters.

But rival bidders, who had gone to the High Court over the way the Sikorsky deal was negotiated, have now withdrawn their actions.
