IRISH mothers are control freaks, taking charge of television viewing in almost half of family homes, a survey yesterday revealed.

A study of telly addicts in hundreds of households has found that in 45% of homes mums keep a tight hold on the remote.

In around 30% of families, dads get to choose, while in just under a quarter of homes the children are given the chance to decide what to watch.
