Number of people employed jumps 5%

THE number of people employed in Ireland rose by 5%, or 96,200, in the first nine months of this year.

And the Central Statistics Office’s (CSO) latest Quarterly National Household Survey indicates that three out of four of the additional jobs are in full-time employment.

The number of women in employment has increased by 48,200, or 6%, of which 18,000 were in part-time jobs, while the number of men in employment increased by 48,000, or just more than 4%.
