€20bn transport plan to be unveiled

A €20 BILLION blueprint of the Government’s transport plans for the next decade to be unveiled by Transport Minister Martin Cullen today will include plans for a metro to Dublin Airport and a re-opening of parts of the western rail corridor.

It will also contain proposals for the much-needed rail interconnector linking Heuston and Connolly railway with other key areas such as St Stephen's Green and Pearse Street.

A large section will focus on improving Dublin's transport infrastructure due to concerns that constant traffic problems have affected economic growth and investment in the city.
