Army officers resign after €60,000 scam probe

TWO army officers have resigned following an investigation into a €60,000 meal receipts scam in the reserve defence force.

An army spokesman confirmed last night that two Munster-based senior, non-commissioned officers have stepped down.

The probe was launched after it emerged the army paid out up to €60,000 more than it should have to hotels providing meals for volunteers attached to one of Munster’s 16 FCA units.
