Almost one-in-10 Shannon passengers is a US soldier

ALMOST one-in-10 passengers going through Shannon Airport is a US soldier, according to new figures.

The figures show that, in the first three-quarters of this year alone, the amount of US forces using the airport increased by 48% when compared with the whole of 2004.

From January to the end of September this year, 2,504,357 people passed through Shannon.
