Some tests from the supply in Kilkenny not only show high levels of aluminium, but also a concentration of iron more than 22 times above maximum levels allowed under EU law. Alleged links between high aluminium levels and Alzheimer's disease are worrying residents.

A European delegation yesterday described as "serious" the evidence it has uncovered about the quality of drinking water in Kilkenny.
