Kilkenny water under investigation

ALUMINIUM levels recorded in one of the country’s busiest tourist cities are 136 times above EU limits.

Some tests from the supply in Kilkenny not only show high levels of aluminium, but also a concentration of iron more than 22 times above maximum levels allowed under EU law. Alleged links between high aluminium levels and Alzheimer's disease are worrying residents.

A European delegation yesterday described as "serious" the evidence it has uncovered about the quality of drinking water in Kilkenny.
