The future is bright for WIT, says new foundation
The advisory board of the recently established Waterford Institute of Technology Foundation has met for the first time. And judging from the enthusiasm after the session, the future for the expanding institute is very bright.
The foundation was established last November with the role of raising funding to help the ongoing development of WIT, specifically in the areas of research, development, innovation and new enterprise opportunities. These will underpin development plans at the West campus.
Chaired by Waterford native Desmond Miller, a former partner in KPMG and past-president of the Chambers of Commerce of Ireland (CCI), the foundation’s advisory board includes some of Ireland’s most experienced public and private sector figures.
Mr Miller said that it was an “especially exciting” time for WIT and expressed confidence that the foundation can help unlock what he described as the “immense potential” for future development and growth in higher education in the southeast.
