MORE than a fifth of women seeking counselling for sexual violence were attacked by their current or former partners, new statistics show.

Research published yesterday by Rape Crisis Network Ireland (RCNI) found that 80% of all victims did not report the crime to gardaí.

The RCNI said the effective capping of State funding at 2002 levels meant they couldn't provide services to people at night or at weekends.
