Vast majority of Hobbs’s facts were accurate

THE vast majority of the facts in the popular Eddie Hobbs Rip Off Republic series are completely accurate, although the programmes did contain a handful of outright inaccuracies and questionable facts, an Irish Examiner analysis has found.

Billed by RTÉ as factual programming, the series attracted more than 800,000 viewers and prompted a damaged Government to react by launching an investigation into the accuracy of the show’s content.

Although they admitted they hadn’t seen the show, both Taoiseach Bertie Ahern and Tánaiste Mary Harney sought to openly rubbish and undermine it.
