FISHERMEN protesting against new EU rules are to converge in Waterford this morning in a massive show of dissatisfaction.

Fishermen gather to protest increases in penalties

As many as 50 vessels will begin the journey from Dunmore East for Waterford Harbour, arriving into the city, at Rice Bridge, about 10am. The protest, involving fishermen from Waterford and Wexford, comes in the wake of the new Sea Fisheries Bill.

The bill, which is before the Oireachtas, could see increased penalties for a range of sea fisheries events.
