More than 1,000 scouts set up camp

MORE THAN 1,000 scouts from all over Ireland have transformed a remote area of Co Limerick into a canvas city for the biggest competition on the scouting calendar.

The scouts have set up camp in Pallaskenry, Co Limerick, to compete in the prestigious Phoenix Challenge Trophy designed to put their scouting skills to the test. Over four days, the boys and girls ranging in age from 13 to 17 years will be put through their paces in a rigorous programme of events including mountain navigation, first aid and survival skills.

Scouting Ireland has over 40,000 members across Ireland, north and south.
