Ireland ‘worse than Russia’ during its Soviet days, says Fine Gael TD

A FINE GAEL frontbench TD has mounted an angry attack on his Oireachtas colleagues accusing the majority of handing over their council seats to relatives.

In a broadside against the ending of the dual mandate, Mayo deputy Michael Ring claimed that all parties were guilty of nepotism.

He said it was so pervasive that it made a joke of democracy and made Ireland “worse than Russia” during its Soviet days.
