A LIMERICK teenager was impaled on railings, when he fell while climbing up a drain pipe to get into his apartment after he was locked out, an inquest heard.

Michael McNamara, aged 19, a native of Meelick was trying to get into his apartment at Lelia Street, Limerick when he fell 30 feet onto railings and was impaled.

He was rushed to the Mid-Western Regional Hospital but died from massive bleeding a short time later.
