HAULIERS have expressed dismay at Government plans to consider privatising the Dublin Port Tunnel and M1 motorway to generate funds for road development.

The Irish Road Haulage Association yesterday voiced opposition to proposals which would result in tolls being imposed on Port Tunnel users.

It followed confirmation by Transport Minister, Seamus Brennan that he was examining the possibility of selling off the tunnel to speed up construction of other major road projects, including motorways from Dublin to Cork and Galway.
