Suspect Dutch chicken still being imported

CHICKEN fillets imported from the Netherlands continue to breach EU food labelling laws, an investigation by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) has found.

Dutch fillets first came under the spotlight last May after tests revealed the presence of illegal pork and beef DNA in chicken being sold on the Irish market. In other cases, tests revealed that the meat had been injected with extra water.

While it is not illegal to add water to a meat product, it is illegal to state incorrect water content on the label.
