Steady increase in deportation orders

DEPORTATION orders issued in the first two months of this year have already surpassed the total number executed in 2000, figures from the Department of Justice reveal.

Since the beginning of this year, Justice Minister, Michael McDowell has signed 220 deportation orders. January saw 154 deportation orders signed while 60 were issued last month. As of Thursday this week, six orders had been issued so far this month.

However, just under half the deportation orders issued have actually been executed so far this year.
