CORK hoteliers could be on the verge of breaking away from the Cork-Kerry Tourism agency and going it alone.

They are proposing to create their own €500,000 marketing budget, designed to attract 25% more tourists to the city and county over the next four years.

The chairman of the Cork branch of the Irish Hotels’ Federation, John Gately, said the city and county was not being marketed effectively at present.
