UP to two-thirds of technology vacancies will be taken up by foreign workers because fewer Irish students are choosing science careers, a university professor has warned.

The latest Dublin City University (DCU) IT vacancies survey shows that there were 9,200 jobs available in the sector last month - up 14% from 8,100 vacancies in May 2005.

Professor Michael Ryan, head of DCU’s computing school, said the industry is suffering a hangover from the dotcom collapse.
