THE board of Cork Airport was called on last night to offer its marketing manager a new contract.

John Smyth, who had been marketing manager at the airport for the past nine years, resigned from his position as his contract had expired.

The chairman of the airport’s board, Joe Gantly, refused to comment yesterday on whether he had offered Mr Smyth a new contract, despite the fact the marketing manager had overseen the near trebling of passenger growth during his time in the job.
