TDs urge end of tax breaks for mega-rich

GENEROUS tax breaks for Ireland’s “greedy” artists and super rich need to swept away, TDs yesterday told Finance Department officials carrying out a review into controversial avoidance schemes.

Members of the joint Oireachtas finance and public service committee strongly questioned the way high profile stars and some of the country’s biggest earners were being allowed to avoid paying millions of euro due to various shelter initiatives and perks.

“There are some lucky people in a golden circle who get away with paying nothing,” Dublin West Labour TD Joan Burton said.
