TD struck by superbug urges Harney to act

CLARE TD James Breen, recovering from the life-threatening MRSA bug, said yesterday he was aggrieved Health Minister Mary Harney had not investigated increasing concerns about the prevalence of the so-called superbug in Irish hospitals.

“I nearly lost my life because of the MRSA superbug,” he said. “When will the issue be tackled?”

Nearly 15 months after he was infected from a routine injection, Mr Breen is battling to regain full strength in his right arm.
