No plans to restore helicopter pad to hospital sparks criticism

THERE are no plans to restore a helicopter landing pad at the country’s only level one trauma hospital despite claims yesterday that its absence could cost lives.

Cork University Hospital (CUH) is the only centre in the country with all the medical specialities under one roof.

Its helipad was closed in 2003 to make way for the development of a multi-million euro A&E unit.
