€10m house was worth under €1m five years ago

A HOUSE which would have cost just under €1 million five years ago sold this week for a record-breaking €10m — without a measurement taken or brochure printed.

The Edwardian red-brick was sold by Sherry FitzGerald's Simon Ensor, who can't really say how big the site or house is because he never got to the quantifying stage. Number 44, Temple Road, Dartry, was snapped up by a private buyer.

Mr Ensor, a director of Sherry FitzGerald, the once public, but now private company, modestly states that he "contacted a few people and got a very warm response" when the sale of the property was first floated.
