Traffic curbs may be needed to reduce pollution, says environmental body

TEMPORARY traffic restrictions may be required in urban areas to reduce air pollution, the Environmental Protection Agency warned yesterday.

The state agency said the rate of increase in greenhouse gas emissions in the transport sector far exceeded other sectors.

The EPA claimed the Government’s failure to deliver on public transport policies was leading to a continued increase in carbon dioxide emissions.
