BUILDERS want a national waste authority to tackle the shortage of landfill and recycling facilities for the construction industry.

Builders want national waste authority

The suggested authority should have powers similar to the national roads authority and be responsible for national policy and the co-ordination of all regional plans, according to Construction Industry Federation director Don O’Sullivan.

It should also have powers to intervene and directly arrange for recycling and disposal, where individual regional authorities fail to do so.
