Boy, eight, dies in river accident

AN eight-year-old boy died on Saturday afternoon from an accident in a fast-flowing river in the Borlin Valley, between Kilgarvan, Co Kerry, and Bantry, Co Cork.

He was named locally as Benjamin Cunnane, of Mangerton, Kilgarvan. He was with his father, Gerry, an electrician who was working on a turbine, and two other men, when the tragedy occurred.
